Phuket light rail project gets 118M baht feasibility study

New plans to develop Phuket's long-awaited light rail system have been revealed to the public.
The original light rail project ground to a halt in 2012 when the Bureau of Regional Transport and Traffic Promotion pointed out to Phuket officials that by law it could not accept any feasibility studies by private companies that were not specifically commissioned by the government.
The six companies tasked by the Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning Office with the 118 million baht feasibility study were announced by Governor Maitri Inthusut at a meeting last week. They are: Index International Group; Asian Engineering Consultants; Lanna Engineering Consultants; PSK Consultants; Enrich Consultants; and Egis Rail.
No dates have yet been set for the completion of the feasibility study.
