FAO Malawi is promoting an ecosystem approach to fisheries management for inland fisheries (EAFm IF), empowering fisheries managers with the skills and the confidence to use this approach when planning their fishery management plans. EAFm IF is being promoted considering that it is a holistic approach that takes into account the links between the range of factors that affect aquatic ecosystem health such as rainfall, tourism and lodges on the edge of lake, poor water quality, and over fishing.
