Beloved friends, welcome to the Feast of Sultán, the Feast of Sovereignty.
This Feast invites us to reflect on the true meaning of sovereignty as revealed in the Bahá’í teachings — the supreme authority of God, whose dominion is exercised through love, justice, and wisdom rather than force or domination. All earthly power is fleeting, but divine sovereignty is eternal and sustains the order and harmony of creation.
Bahá’u’lláh teaches that to recognize God’s sovereignty is to align our lives with His will, to submit our egos to higher purpose, and to dedicate ourselves to service to humanity. True sovereignty is reflected in self-mastery, humility, and obedience to divine law, and it finds expression in acts of compassion, justice, and unity.
As we gather this evening, may we deepen our understanding of divine authority, renew our allegiance to God’s Covenant, and reflect on how we can allow the sovereignty of God to shape our choices, our relationships, and our service to the world.
