Aquarium Barracuda Silver Gar aka Rocket Gar. Sponge filters are a great idea to add to your tank.
More Topics: Who has a favorite fish that is a little bit weird? I DO! This little guy, well big fatty really, was a teeny little 'uncoloured goldfish' when I bought him home and he has grown huge, he is like Nemo with a fin that hasn't grown right on his butt which makes him be like the 'little fish that could'. We actually thought he had swim bladder when he swims along and whoops over he goes, sideways or forwards and sleeps in the corner in the reeds facing down LOL
Such a spaz...
I have a bigger one that looks like him that was bought the same day also.
Anyone know what breed these might be?
The one that surprised me the most was the 'black' one. He was also bought the same day from the same tank and was the same colour as the other two but had a small bit of black down his back, and now look at him..his little tail has a missing fin on the left bottom side also. Not sure why it hasnt grown but id say inbreeding? Anywho show me your cute or ugly favorite fishy friends.
Anymore stocking ideas for my 36g bow-front? In there I have a full grown angelfish, five skirted tetras, a couple Cory cats, and one small bristlenose pleco. Anymore Tetras I could fit in there? (The angel does not want another angel in her tank).
I would love more Cory cats, but I think my angel gets annoyed by them. I had six but I’d always see the angel chasing them off and I know two died and the remaining are either in hiding or were eaten. so if I can find the remaining g they will be transplanted into my 60g tetra tank.
Well my tank with green water is still green. I had it in blackout for 3 days but it didn't help. Afterwards I scrubbed the glass, vacuumed and did a waterchange. Added Stability. The water was hazy and within 4 hours the water was already turning green... I am going to reduce feeding to once a day and reduce the light but I dont know what else to do. It has been 4 weeks of this. This is a planted tank so I was hoping that would help but obviously it didn't.
Carbon, or activated carbon, is used as a chemical filtration media. It helps to remove many organic and inorganic materials dissolved in tank water -- it keeps the aquarium water clear, and removes odors. I would not feed for two or three days and put a blanket over your tank keep it in complete darkness for that time also if it's getting too much sunlight you may want to think about moving it to another spot.
I only leave my light on for about 4 hours a day in most of my tanks. Try changing the type of light you have, as some algae thrives in some light better than others.
Fast-growing plants tend to be the most allelopathic, meaning they release a chemical that kills algae. Some well-known allelopathic plants that can be added to your aquarium include Cabomba, Egeria, Ceratopteris, Hygrophila, and Vallisneria. How many plants do you have in the tank and what size tank is it?
it is a 30 gal one. I have about 5-6 plants in it but i dont remember what they are now. Definitely two of Amazon swords. I will try to get some of the plants you mentioned and shorten the time the lights are on. Right now the lights are on 6am to 9pm.
I have an algae problem in 1 of my tanks because it is positioned nearest the window. Moving it is not an option & we keep the blinds down a lot but it's not in direct sunlight just a brighter spot. I asked on here & I tried all these things but ended up purchasing the cheapest UV filter I could off eBay (less than £20) & it has done the trick.
I have Venetian blinds and curtains that block out the sun. As well if needed a have byfold screen if needed. I had no choice but to put my aquarium near the window and the LL approved the location. I’ve had green water for months. It is a massive pain to get rid of unless you want to spend money on a uv light. Mine finally has started clearing up well with lights on only for an hour just to feed once a day and 25% water change twice a week. Hang in there or buy a uv light.
