Dad Has Not Seen His Kids In Almost 200 Days — Begs Judge For Visitation
In this first major hearing after an ex parte custody shutdown, a father comes to court saying he’s been cut off from his two children for roughly 200+ days—no visits, no photos, no updates, not even an address—while the case has been “on pause” waiting for a therapist to recommend reunification.
The judge starts with the key question: Why is mom opposed to supervised visits if a therapist supports it? Mom’s attorney says she isn’t opposed—because the current order already states visitation happens only when the therapist recommends it, not when either parent demands it. But dad’s attorney argues that’s the problem: mom controls access to therapy, and without regular sessions, the therapist can’t recommend anything—meaning dad stays locked out indefinitely.
Dad’s side lays out what they call a pattern of delay: the ex parte order was entered back in August 2025 claiming the kids were “already in therapy,” yet by dad’s count, only one short session happened months later, and multiple appointments were allegedly canceled. Dad says he’s been completely cut out—moved children, no address, no sports updates, pulled their 10-year-old from competitive baseball, and refused photos until minutes before court.
Mom’s counsel pushes back hard: the underlying incident was serious domestic violence in July 2025, witnessed by the children, and mom was the victim—strangled in front of them—so trauma isn’t “just for the kids,” it’s for mom too. She asks the court to show grace while mom rebuilds stability under sole legal custody and works through therapy logistics and finances. She also notes mom is on a separate DUI diversion (kids not in the car) with a no-alcohol condition, and says mom has been trying to comply, not sabotage.
The judge refuses to “skip the process” and denies dad’s request for immediate supervised visits this weekend, explaining that when trauma is alleged, reunification usually requires a gradual, structured plan, not emergency weekend visits. But the court also makes it clear that the therapy delays and lack of communication are now on the court’s radar, and mom’s credibility could be affected if progress doesn’t happen fast.
That’s when the judge pivots to a solution designed to stop the stalemate.
Instead of letting the entire case hinge on one therapist and endless cancellations, the court proposes bringing in a Domestic Relations/Consiliation Coordinator (DC coordinator / GAL-type professional) to coordinate with the therapist, track appointments, and build a step-by-step reintegration plan—so dad can see a clear path forward, and mom is held accountable.
✅ What the Judge Set in Motion Immediately:
✅ Court denies immediate supervised visits “this weekend”
✅ Therapy remains the trigger for reunification — but court signals it should not take years
✅ Parties agree to weekly therapy moving forward (payment issue addressed; dad’s card added)
✅ Mom agrees to provide address + a photo every 2 months (after long delay)
✅ Court orders moving toward a DC coordinator to oversee coordination + create a progressive plan
✅ Court schedules frequent review hearings to monitor progress
✅ Next review hearing set for the 26th at 9:00 a.m. (about a month out)
✅ Counsel instructed to journalize agreements and orders (including DC coordinator directives)
⚖️ The judge ends by acknowledging the case isn’t in an ideal place—dad’s prolonged absence matters, but so does the seriousness of the domestic violence incident and the children’s trauma. The court’s message is clear: no more drifting—either the therapy and reintegration move forward on a structured schedule, or the court will keep tightening oversight until it does.
