AWESOME Thyssen Elevators | Plaza Surabaya, ID

And finally the BEST elevators in this mall, and the best ones I've filmed in Surabaya so far! While the former scenic and the service elevators in the building have sadly been modernized, the elevators near the back of the parking building were miraculous still original! These might've been last original elevators in the mall, and I'm so glad to have managed to film these before it's too late. According to some local elevator enthusiasts, one of these elevators would be switched off in turns, possibly to save electricity. On my visit, the left car was off.

This elevator was so awesome in any ways. Aside from the refurbished interior (it has been done multiple times over the year with different themes), the elevator is still original with Schaefer buttons and Thyssocontrol Multican microprocessor controllers. What I really like the most about it is the really satisfying advanced door opening (ADO) and the classic Thyssen chime. Apart from the slightly abrupt starting and stopping, the ride quality was really good and smooth for its age of almost 40 years - good ol' German quality! The only annoying thing here was when the doors reopened several times on the 1st floor, probably a slight issue with the interlock. All in all this was a really awesome elevator, and one of the best Thyssen elevators I've filmed!

Sadly I heard from someone that these elevators have been modernized by Marico Gria into Neoteric brand. This means there are no more interesting elevators left in the mall :(

There's also a brand new Chinese made Glarie glass elevator that was newly added in the atrium as there wasn't enough elevator in the mall. Didn't film that as it was so boring and busy.
