A Brief History of Chakras

When we began researching, we dove into Sanskrit history, learned about Tantra, and were fascinated by it. However, when it came time to make the video, we found that the system that we currently work with had very little to do with those ancient systems. It is a unique system which grew out of the old system and diverged to create something unique.

Modern Western Chakras are a system developed using psychic intuition. This modern system works very well, and deserves to be learned, from the root to the crown, we are luminous

We do want to note one point of controversy. We credit Ken Dychtwald with being the first person to coalesce the modern system because he combined the placements, colors, and meanings into one book. We should note that Christopher Hills also published a book just before Dychtwald which also included the placement and colors, but did not include the meanings. There were many different people coalescing the system at that same time, so the issue is less about who was the first person to make it to the finish line, and more about the fact that the modern system did not coalesce into its modern form until 1977.
