The men of The Fifth Direction are humbled to have had the current conveners of the Minnesota Men’s Conference, poet Tim Young and storyteller Walton Stanley, teaching us for over three years now. This clip is taken from a recent Elder Circle.
The MMC was founded by Robert Bly in 1984 and we have grown deep roots between us.
Here Tim discusses the importance of ritual and song, and his involvement with Walton in a men’s Sufi chanting group at Robert Bly’s house which lasted over 25 years.
He also recites his award-winning poem, Joy Soup.
