JBL LSR 308 Monitors Are They Any Good? The Best Studio Monitors

Описание: In this video I quickly review an emergency purchase I had to make recently. The JBL LSR 308 8” two way monitors. Right before the Christmas holiday kicks in. I get ready to work one morning and the fuse blows on one of the Dynaudio BM-5A monitors. Having gone through this before I simply changed the fuse just to have it blow again. Not a problem if it was just one but when two go it’s a huge problem. I suspect something is wrong with a component on the circuit board. Dynaudio makes some of the best monitors on the market. However, being a European company they are very expensive to repair due to the exchange rate and parts needed. Faced with this dilemma, I contacted B&H and grabbed a pair of the JBL’s for under $300 avoiding the $450 repair bill for the moment. The JBL LSR308 monitors are bi-amped with 55 watt Class D amps for both the woofer and tweeter. Although they don’t put out the same power as Class A amplification they have enough power for any project studio. Also, the ability to boost or cut the power of both drivers by 2db is an added flexibility. Originally I thought I’d have a time trying to get an 8” woofer to play well with a 10” subwoofer that's why all of my monitors are 6” and under. However, the subwoofer, in this case has allowed for an extended bottom end that is nice and solid. All in all I’d say that this purchase was worth it. I will keep my Dynaudio's for now as I figure out a way to pay the $450 repair bill I’m facing. If you enjoy the content that I am releasing please consider subscribing to the channel. The current Rhythm Studio Setup:

DAW 1: (Scoring Station) Pro Tools 12 and Sibelius using a Focusrite 2i4

DAW 2: (Sketch Station) Logic Express 8 YES! on a Mac G5 still sounds amazing. I will be upgrading to Logic Pro X

DAW 3: (Recording Station) Pro Tools HD8 WHY? It’s fully paid for. 44.1K and 48K are the same on any HD system.
No one I know records at 96K and clients haven’t requested 96K sessions
