“BURGOS” I Product Tanker 115,231 DWT | Fire / Explosion Veracruz Anchorage, Mexico

Combined chemical and oil tanker Burgos (25400 gt, built 2005), loaded with 80000 barrels of diesel 71,000 barrels of unleaded gasoline, and 16,000 barrels of desulfurized gasoline, was reportedly on fire, after an explosion off the Mexican Coast of Boca del Rio, Veracruz, on the night of September 24.
T&T Salvage was engaged under LOF terms on September 24. Participating in the efforts to control the fire and prevent any fuel spillage have been three boats and five tugboats belonging to Veracruz's Apiver port administration and four vessels belonging to the Mexican navy. The fire was extinguished on September 25.
The vessel was towed to the terminal Maritima Pajaritos in Coatzacoalcos on October 6. There was no remaining list due to perfect ballast distribution, and only for security reasons the main engine was not used. The tanker was later discharged and redelivered back to her owners
