This video was filmed at the Enrico Caruso Museum of American which was founded by Aldo Mancusi.
German-born inventor Emile Berliner is seen in the video with the model of his gramophone, the first device that played flat, disc records. At the time of receiving his United States patent he was a competitor for Thomas Edison’s phonograph that used a wax cylinder for recording. Eventually the flat disc vinyl record became the industry standard.
Aldo Mancusi made this video possible by hosting a private showing for Bill Russo and Janice Carapellucci, Graphic Artist and author of The Art of Immigration.
