PF: Lebanon’s Predicament: Political Stagnation and Economic Collapse in a Hezbollah-Dominated State

Yet the state is also contending with deep political paralysis, endemic corruption, an acute financial crisis, and an increasingly frustrated population. To discuss these issues, The Washington Institute held a virtual Policy Forum on March 3, 2021 with Lebanese experts Makram Rabah, Ali al-Amin, and Alia Mansour.

Makram Rabah is a lecturer of history with the American University of Beirut and author of Conflict on Mount Lebanon: The Druze, the Maronites and Collective Memory (Edinburgh University Press, 2020).

Ali al-Amin is a columnist and editor-in-chief for Janoubia, a news website based in south Lebanon that focuses on the Shia community and Hezbollah.
