Cessna 310 Emergency Landing at Ottawa YOW - Nose Gear Not Fully Deployed Landing

After taking off from carp airport inbound for Kingston, the pilot reported hearing a loud popping sound, before receiving a “Gear unsafe warning” from the master caution system. It would do a low pass over the air traffic control tower, and the controllers reported seeing the gear at about 10-15 degrees out. The pilot made the decision that he would burn fuel around the south of Ottawa, for about 2 and a half hours. The pilot now believed it was safe for a landing, since there was little fuel for fire. The pilot was offered a touch and go on runway 14, however he declined as the pilot said “ I don’t think that will work for us,” and said he thinks it might do more harm than good. He would line up on runway 14, with all the fire crews ready and clear of any aircraft, passengers or ground crew nearby. The pilot would do a flawless landing, shutting down the engines just before impact so that pieces of the prop would not fling everywhere and possibly injure someone. After leaving the nose up for as long as he can, he eased into the nose gear, and as expected, the nose gear collapsed. Eventually the plane would skid to a stop, and fire crews would respond. Thankfully, there were no casualties or minor injuries even, just a little shooken up from the whole situation. The planes props, front bottom belly, and nose gear were all damaged, and needed some replacements and repairs. The case is still ongoing for the whole situation to determine the cause. Amazing landing by the pilot though!
