All right, let's take a look at replacing the canister purge solenoid on this Dodge Intrepid with a 2.7-liter engine.
Now, you notice it's located in the right front corner of the vehicle here, near the battery jumpstart connection here. So it's not too difficult to replace. I'm going to take my 90-degree pick. Now, there's a red locking tab here on the electrical connector. So I'm going to zoom in here a little bit, and I will use my pick to slide the tab over and release this locking tab. Now, quite often, you see people discard these. It's always nice to reuse them, if possible. But once I slide that back, I can pinch the connector here and unplug it.
So now, once I get the electrical connector out of the way, I'm going to take my hose hook tool and gently pop off the hoses, which go to the engine for vacuum, as well as to the EVAP system. Once we get those popped off, now there's just a little locking tab on the solenoid itself. So it slid onto a bracket, and there's this little tab here. We have to depress that. So again, it might be easier to use my hook tool here, to push that in. Once that's released, I can slide this off. Got my old one out of the way. I will take my new purge solenoid and slide it onto the bracket. Make sure it locks into place.
Now we'll take our vacuum lines. Need to slide those back into place, and this should be pretty straightforward. And you don't have to worry about putting them in the wrong location or anything like that, since you're not moving them, and they're actually molded together here. So might have to play with them here a little bit to get those slid onto place. But once I get them slid all the way on, I can go ahead and make my electrical connection. Plug in my connector. I'll lock that lock tab into place, and I'll continue to work with my vacuum hose here a little bit. Make sure that they're slid on all the way. And once I get that done, the job is completed.
Hopefully, now you understand what it takes to replace the canister purge solenoid on a 2001 Dodge Intrepid with a 2.7-liter engine.
