Matt Frei is a presenter at Channel 4 News and the current Europe Editor. In October 2012, Frei headed the Channel’s coverage of the U.S. Presidential election, including making a documentary, The American Road Trip: Obama’s Story, in which he visited middle-class voters in the midwest communities. In January 2016, Frei reported on his own documentary investigating the world of Donald Trump and those that surround him, The Mad World of Donald Trump’, and made a series of documentaries on the rise of Trump. Frei has written two books, Italy: The Unfinished Revolution and Only in America.
Odd Harald Hauge is an adventurer, entrepreneur and author. He has worked as a business journalist, chief editor, and stockbroker. In 1996, he founded Nettavisen, one of the world’s first ‘internet only’ newspapers. He has published several nonfiction books as well as books based on his many adventures and expeditions to The South Pole, Mount Everest, and the crossing of Greenland. He is the author of three crime novels, the latest titled Everest, a thriller with the iconic mountain as the scene.
Pavan K. Varma is an award-winning writer-diplomat and now in politics, where he was till recently an MP in the Rajya Sabha, and earlier Advisor to the Chief Minister of Bihar. He is the author of over a dozen best-selling books, including Ghalib: The Man, The Times, The Great Indian Middle Class, The Book of Krishna, Being Indian, Becoming Indian and Chanakya’s New Manifesto. He has been Ambassador in several countries, including Bhutan, Director of The Nehru Centre in London, Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Director General, ICCR and Press Secretary to the President of India. He is currently the National General Secretary and National Spokesman of the Janata Dal (United). In 2018, he was conferred an Honorary Doctorate by the Sri Sharada Institute of Indian Management for his book Adi Shankaracharya: Hinduism’s Greatest Thinker. His latest book is Chanakya’s View: Understanding India in Transition.
Sujatha Gidla is the author of Ants Among Elephants: An Untouchable Family and the Making of Modern India. Gidla was born in Andhra Pradesh and migrated to America at the age of 26. She lives in New York and works as a conductor in the city’s subways. Ants Among Elephants is her first book.

THE JAIPUR LITERATURE FESTIVAL
Described as the 'greatest literary show on Earth', the Jaipur Literature Festival is a sumptuous feast of ideas.
Every year, the Festival brings together a diverse mix of the world's greatest writers, thinkers, humanitarians, politicians, business leaders, sports people and entertainers on one stage to champion the freedom to express and engage in thoughtful debate and dialogue.
Festival Co Directors Namita Gokhale and William Dalrymple, alongside Producer Sanjoy K Roy and Teamwork Arts, create a platform for an array of speakers to debate, discuss and present their ideas in the annual five-day programme set against the backdrop of Rajasthan's stunning cultural heritage and the Diggi Palace in the state capital Jaipur.
Past speakers have ranged from Nobel Laureates His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, J.M. Coetzee, Muhammad Yunus and Orhan Pamuk, Man Booker Prize winners Ben Okri, Howard Jacobson, Margaret Atwood, Marlon James, Michael Ondaatje, Paul Beatty and Yan Martel, Pulitzer Prize winners Andrew Sean Greer, Benjamin Moser, Colson Whitehead and Jhumpa Lahiri, Sahitya Akademi winners Gulzar, Javed Akhtar, M.T. Vasudevan Nair as well as the late Girish Karnad, Mahasweta Devi and U.R. Ananthamurthy along with literary luminaries including Amish Tripathi, Chima¬manda Ngozi Adichie, Vikram Chandra and Vikram Seth. An annual event that goes beyond literature, the Festival has also hosted Amartya Sen, Amitabh Bachchan, the late A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Oprah Winfrey, Stephen Fry, Thomas Piketty and former president of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai.
The Jaipur Literature Festival is a flagship event of Teamwork Arts, which produces over 33 highly acclaimed performing arts, visual arts and literary festivals across more than 40 cities globally.
