Mayan Ruins of Mexico. Chichen Itza, Coba, and Tulum Ruins. (Yucatan Peninsula)
Chichen itza: (from History.com)
Chichen Itza was a Mayan city on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. Although it’s an important tourist attraction, Chichen Itza also remains an active archeological site. New discoveries are still being unearthed in the area, providing even more insight into the culture and accomplishments of the Mayan people, who ruled much of present-day Mexico and Central America prior to the arrival of European colonists. Chichen Itza was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988 and, in 2007, it was voted in a global survey as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
Where Is Chichen Itza?
Chichen Itza is located about 120 miles from the modern-day resort town of Cancun, on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula.
The name Chichen Itza is a Mayan language term for “at the mouth of the well of the Itza.” The Itza were an ethnic group of Mayans who had risen to power in the northern part of the Yucatan peninsula, where the city is located.
The well in the name refers to a number of underground rivers that run beneath the region and likely served as the source of water for the city. This easy access to water made the location perfect for a city the size of Chichen Itza.(History.com)
As of early 2020, the price for non-citizens is 486 pesos, which is approximately US$23, €19, or £17.50. Mexican citizens who are not residents of Yucatan state are charged 207 pesos on Monday to Saturday and 127 pesos on Sundays.

Coba:
Coba means ‘waters stirred by wind’ or ‘ruffled waters’ as the Mayan city is located on two lagoons; the Coba Lagoon which can be seen as you drive up to the ruins entrance and Macamxoc Lagoon which can be viewed once you enter the ruin site. (LocoGringo)
The ruins of Coba lie 43 km (approx. 27 mi) northwest of Tulum, in the State of Quintana Roo, Mexico. The geographical coordinates of Coba Group (main entrance for tourist area of the archaeological site) are North 19° 29.6’ and West 87° 43.7’. (Wikipedia)
Coba is located around two lagoons, Lake Coba and Lake Macanxoc. A series of elevated stone and plaster roads radiate from the central site to various smaller sites near and far. These are known by the Maya term sacbe (plural sacbeob) or white road. Some of these causeways go east, and the longest runs over 100 kilometres (62 mi) westward to the site of Yaxuna. The site contains a group of large temple pyramids known as the Nohoch Mul, the tallest of which, Ixmoja, is some 42 metres (138 ft) in height. (Wikipedia)

Tulum Ruins:(from Instituto Nacionalde de Anthropologian e Historia)
Tulum is the most emblematic site on the Quintana Roo coast, due to its privileged location and the excellent conservation of its buildings and wall paintings. Its wall is well known, which delimits the main complex on its north, south, and west sides since the eastern sector faces the Caribbean Sea; it has five entrances and two watchtowers.
The site is presided over by El Castillo, the highest basement in Tulum, which preserves a temple with three entrances decorated with serpentine columns and two zoomorphic masks in the corners. In front of the Castle there is a platform for dances and to the southwest is the Temple of the Initial Series, where the earliest documented date in Tulum was found: 564 AD
It is located at km. 230 of the federal highway Chetumal - Cancun, 128 kilometers south of Cancun and is easily accessible through federal highway 370.
The site services unit has a store, ticketing area, and restrooms. There are facilities for disabled access, from the service unit to the archaeological zone.
Hours: Monday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the last access will be at 3:30 p.m.
