Starting with Koopa Troopa all the way to Dry Bowser, these free DLC characters have special traits that the initial characters don't have. DLC characters, at first, can only be unlocked by participating in online tournaments but became available after a month of their release dates.

I usually don't care to use things like Zone Shots, Zone Speeds (this is rare for me) or Trick Shots (definitely this and also I'm bad at this) unless I really need to. For this game's COM Tournaments, I do just fine without these things. I was a Mario Tennis N64 lover (also Mario Power Tennis too) so it's why I like to stick to the basics. I use Special Shots just for showing them off.
