Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the rear view safety switcher box. This is going to allow you to wire up your camera system with different trigger wires and have your three inputs coming in, and then going out to a monitor on your vehicle. So whether you're using this in an RV or a work truck or a work van or something else in between, this is going to help to get you hooked up and control everything as you need it. So our switcher box has three camera inputs.

They're each going to have the threaded end to connect to our camera wires. These work with the RVS camera systems. So if you want to pick up some cameras from RVS, they will work with this, and you can find those right here at etrailer.com.We'll have camera one, camera two, or DVD, and then camera three or backup. So they're going to each kind of work a little bit differently. We'll have just our camera one there.

And then our camera two, we can typically use this with a DVD player, if we'd wanted to, we can have this input running to an external source so that we can play movies on our monitor. So if you want to be able to watch some stuff, whenever you're not driving down the road, you can do that there. And you could also hook this third camera up to your backup signal. So whenever you flip your vehicle into reverse, that camera will automatically come on. That will also be controlled by our trigger wires here.

So they're each labeled so that you can wire them to a different signal to turn on. So we'll have our output, our camera one, or excuse me, camera three will be our blue wire, output is going to be this kind of dark green wire, ground is the black wire. Our camera one is yellow, and then white is camera two.So if you wanted to, you can hook up camera one and camera two to maybe your left turn signal on your right turn signal. And then, you could wire up the third camera to your reverse signal, so that those would act as the triggers for each of those cameras to come on. That's going to be especially handy in your RV, if you want to have them turn on side to side so that you can see that side view on your vehicle.

Our power will go through our fuse holder. So it is fuse protected, we don't have to worry about any issues arising with our box. If anything happens, we have a surge of power, or something's connected improperly, it will blow our fuse rather than blowing the box. And we won't have to worry about damaging our vehicle at all.So this will run to the positive on our power source. Again, our black wires will be our ground. We'll have our two hook ups for our monitors. So this is going to go into an RCA cable to connect to our monitor. We'll also have a couple of black caps to go over camera ports, so if you decide you don't want to use one of them, you can just pop that on there, holds really tight, and it's going to keep out any dirt dust or debris from getting in and causing issue with those prongs on the inside, so it's ready to go for when we do need it down the road. It also comes with a few small screws. These you can use to mount up your box, although they're not very long, and I would also definitely suggest using a washer that's a bit larger than these, because they'll pretty much fall right through the slots there. So they're a little bit small to get those in place without a washer.As far as the size of our box, it's about four and a half inches long, by about three inches wide, and about four inches wide, if we go to the outside edge of those mounting tabs. And it's about one and three eights inches deep. Our mounting holes are about one and three eighths inches apart, and, at the narrowest, about one and a half inches the other way. And, at most, about three and a quarter. Each of those mounting holes is about an inch long by about three sixteenths. But, that's pretty much going to do it for our look at the rear view safety switcher box.
