Complete audio recording of Helena Bonham Carter’s introduction to a special outdoor screening of Merchant Ivory Productions’ classic 1985 film of E. M. Forster’s novel. Also featuring a contribution from John Bright, one of A Room With A View’s two Academy Award-winning costume designers (alongside Jenny Beavan), and designer of the costumes for many other Merchant Ivory films from The Bostonians (1984) onwards.
Helena’s introduction includes a tribute to the Merchant–Ivory–Jhabvala triumvirate – director James Ivory, who turned 87 this year, producer Ismail Merchant (1936–2005), and novelist/screenwriter Ruth Prawer Jhabvala (1927–2013) – and their composer Richard Robbins (1940–2012).
This screening was part of the British Film Institute’s 2015 Summer Love Weekend. Interviewer: Rhidian Davies, BFI.
