UN police pulled out of a flashpoint Bosnian town on Thursday (28/8) after NATO soldiers fired tear gas and warning shots at demonstrators as the Bosnian Serb crisis took a dangerous turn. The most serious clashes occurred in Brcko where US troops came under a hail of stones and bottles, forcing them to pull back from a checkpoint near a bridge on the river border with Croatia.
