Nelson-Atkins Museum shuttlecock gets first makeover in 22 years

One of the four iconic shuttlecocks on the grounds of the Nelson-Atkins Museum is getting a makeover. On Monday, a crew from Belger Cartage Service dismantled, loaded, and then transported the artwork for industrial painting. The shuttlecock on the southwest part of the lawn was dismantled into ten pieces. Each of the nine fiberglass feathers was taken off one at a time, followed by the aluminum base with the orange ball at the bottom.
