Описание: Winter 2000, murky day, pairs recovery to RAF Bruggen, Germany. Pair of Tornado GR4 from IX(B) Squadron flying over the Rhine river. Some views of the backseat navigation displays 0:30, Combined Radar Projected Map Display (CRPMD) 0:35 showing Germany. 0:55, 3000ft, 250 kts under control of Dusseldorf Radar before handover to RAF Bruggen ATC. 1:55 head nod meaning executive action of the preceding gear hand signal (just missed that on video), done without need of a radio call in close formation. As the right main gear comes down notice the slight camera shake from our aircraft, as our own gear comes down and locks into place with a reassuring thud. 2:05, now IMC on a pairs approach. Descending through 1,400 ft, 190 kts. 2:50 short finals, we overshot from this. 3:04, spilt into 2 separate speaking units to practice our own approaches. 3:12 radar on the CRPMD, setting up for an internal aids approach, guided by the Navigator finding the runway and directing the pilot. We practiced this for a back-up in case we lost radio, ATC direction etc. Radar 3:15, reducing the gain on the radar display to get a more refined radar image and help to breakout the detail, range ring moving up the display, probably the 10 mile ring, helps with situational awareness.
