In this vlog, I make a lunch stop at a modest but hugely popular biryani joint in Hassan, Pillai Mess. Begun by Mr. Pillai, an immigrant from Kottayam, Kerala, in the 1970s, this home eatery has integrated into the food culture of Hassan. And it epitomises this culinary confluence in their mutton biryani, cooked in a traditional chembu over a wood fire.
