Nagkalat ngayon sa social media ang mga post na nagsasabing maaaring maging target umano ng Iran ang Pilipinas dahil sa 9 EDCA sites na sinasabing “US military bases” daw sa bansa.

Sa reaction at commentary na ito, nilinaw natin ang mga sumusunod:

• Hindi US military base ang EDCA sites
• Walang permanenteng US military base sa Pilipinas ayon mismo sa National Security Council
• Ang distansya ng Iran sa Pilipinas ay napakalayo
• Walang public evidence na kaya ng Iranian missile systems na umabot sa Pilipinas
• Malayo rin sa katotohanan ang haka-haka na bobombahin ng China ang Pilipinas nang walang dahilan

Tinalakay din natin ang pahayag ni Prof. Renato de Castro — na minsan, common sense at basic geographic knowledge lang ang kailangan upang hindi malinlang ng fear-based misinformation.

Layunin ng video na ito ang magbigay-linaw at maiwasan ang pagkalat ng panic sa publiko.
