Gwithian is a village located at the end of St Ives Bay, on the North coast of Cornwall near the town of Hayle. It is situated on the B3301, which stretches between Hayle and Portreath.
The village is best known for its two beaches of Gwithian Beach and Godrevy Beach, and the iconic Godrevy Lighthouse, which is located around 2 miles from the village on an island.
The village of Gwithian itself contains a church, a pub, a Methodist chapel (the only thatched one still in existence in Cornwall), and a number of camp sites, as this area is popular with tourists.
Gwithian is one of two main villages making up the parish of Gwinear-Gwithian. Gwinear-Gwithian parish is bordered by the parishes of Camborne, Crowan, St Erth, and Hayle.
