I'm NOT going stand alone or Motronic on this stock 2.5 engine, but I wanted to upgrade the aging (and hard to find) ignition components for something a little more modern. While I'm at it I may as well put in the newer and upgraded version of L-Jetronic. From this conversation to a Milano/late GTV6 system I will gain:
3 position throttle position sensor (need to change to newer throttle body also)
Microprocessor controlled ignition timing - Bosch EZ-L (newer model hall effect distributor needed)
Ability to upgrade the coil as the ballast can be removed, also changing the coil ignitor module for the newer and more reliable style
Deceleration fuel cut-off (DFCO) added feature. Shuts off fuel injectors when your foot is off the accelerator: 5% fuel savings, less/no backfire, better engine braking
Altitude compensation device added feature. Helps idle remain constant when barometric pressure changes or altitude changes
Heated Lambda (O2) sensor added feature. Keeps fuel mixture more controlled while engine is warming up or when under low load situations. Sensors tend to be higher quality also
