Rosslyn, Dorian is a cycle of instrumental studies inspired by the interior architecture of Rosslyn Chapel and the expressive character of the Dorian mode.
The music explores how sound inhabits stone—how breath, resonance, and silence move through carved space, linger in shadow, and gradually give way to light. Rather than illustrating history, these pieces attend to atmosphere: weight and stillness, passage and repose, night and morning.
Each track was shaped as a quiet listening environment, inviting the ear to slow down and notice texture, distance, and restraint. The album is intended as a continuous journey, from first breath through repose, where sound thins and the space itself remains.
Some musical elements on this album were developed with the assistance of AI-based music generation tools. All works were conceptually designed, curated, edited, titled, and finalized by Jeanne Donovan.
