(1 Sep 2013) Rabbis and members of the Orthodox Jewish community attended the installation of the new Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis, as the 11th Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the UK and the Commonwealth, during a ceremony in London on Sunday.
Several guests including Britain's Prince Charles and Labour Party leader Ed Miliband attended the ceremony, which was held at the St John's Wood Synagogue in north London.
The Prince of Wales, who wore a navy blue velvet Kippah, or skull cap, was greeted by the Lord Jonathan Sacks and his successor Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis.
Lord Sacks, who stepped down after 22 years as Chief Rabbi, gave an address to the ceremony.
According to British media, around 1,400 guests attended the ceremony.
