STORYLINE:
Israeli tanks entered Palestinian territory on Thursday on the outskirts of the West Bank city of Ramallah.
Palestinians opened fire and some of the tanks fired shells in response.
Heavy exchange of fire followed the entrance of the tanks, and one Palestinian policeman was killed, Palestinians said.
The Israeli tanks also entered the outskirts of the West Bank city of Jenin early on Thursday, in response to the assassination of Tourism Minister Rehavam Ze'evi on Wednesday.
