Kirby Air Riders - Soaring to the Top!

Описание: There was an event on the first weekend of February 2026, featuring City Trial modified to have only gliding events: Target Flight, High Jump, Skydive, and Air Glider. With this event were license elements pertaining to general cheerfulness and the wintertime (sometimes done through a Japanese context, like that pot of curry). I don’t do much City Trial outside of this, so there were some things I didn’t understand, but I’ll get into that later.

I did know enough, though, that the best machines, outside of the Legendary Machines, would be the Paper Star and the Winged Star, and that the Bikes, Chariots, and Tanks wouldn’t be well-suited for it.

City Trial
Character: King Dedede
Stadium: Skydive 1
I thought I was doing all right during City Trial itself. Not great, but not terrible. I was stuck with the Warp Star though, and I noticed that once I leapt off the ramp, I couldn’t move! Is this a trait of King Dedede, or was there something I wasn’t understanding?

Stadium: Air Glider
I managed to find a portal, which took me through a series of them…one of them looking like the surface of the Moon. That confused me enough to slow down and stop after a moment to figure out what just happened, as I don’t remember Skyah, the location of City Trial, having anything like that. As for the Stadium, I thought I picked a nice, suitable machine, the Paper Star and was able to survive with it long enough to reach the Stadium with it, but someone else used the Paper Star to get a height over twice of mine. Do they just have a much higher Glide stat? I did place far higher than anyone not using a Paper Star or Winged Star though.

City Trial

Stadium: Target Flight 2
Treasure Stars appeared, but I had no idea how to get to them, and my opponents had managed to nab them all before I could find any of the other ones. I know they’re not wandering aimlessly though, or even using the pointer around their characters like I was doing. I also got blasted with the giant laser I could not outrun near the end, forcing myself onto the Compact Star for this Stadium…and yet I still placed in the middle because a few people dominated the others during City Trial, leaving most of the rest of us without much to work with. I could’ve placed 3rd if I could glide just a little bit to the right in the second round. (I do see a lot of people with Compact Stars during the Stadium parts of these matches, so I get the feeling there are very aggressive people whose strategies are to destroy other people's machines near the end and force them onto the Compact Star.)

City Trial

Stadium: High Jump
I nabbed the Winged Star near the end and used it to get on top of the garden above…now what? There’s nothing of use up here. This is also the first time I’ve gotten High Jump with a machine suitable for it and thus the first time I’ve seen the space backdrop for it. That is an insane showinfg with the Slick Star by that opponent though. I didn’t know the Slick Star was capable of those heights.

City Trial
Character: Scarfy
Stadium: Target Flight 3
I was off to a bad start, with Jackson picking up most of the patches ahead of me and having my vehicle destroyed (and the one I was attempting to pick up also destroyed), but I was able to get on a Hop Star as Grand Wheelie showed up and my special ready—I also defeated an opponent for the first time, getting me 20 patches in all and allowing me to catch up. I wound up competing against only one other person in a Target Flight scheme I had never seen before, where they got a perfect score. Ah well.

City Trial
Character: Magalor
Stadium: Target Flight 1
This is the match where I got enough points to get all of the bonuses for this event. Unfortunately, I kept seeing people with greater speed than me swoop in to collect patches I was planning on getting. Of course, your performance in the Stadium is all the game is concerned about. This time, I understood where I was aiming, and while not perfect, and having one of the slower machines (meaning no first dibs on any of the panels), scored 100 points to tie for 3rd.
