China, Tonga Agree to Promote Strategic Partnership

Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks in Beijing with Tongan King Tupou VI Thursday, both agreeing to deepen the strategic partnership between China and Tonga.
Xi welcomed King Tupou VI's state visit on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He also extended sincere condolences to the country which suffered serious devastation due to a serious storm.
The two heads of state jointly witnessed the signing of cooperative documents in various fields including economic and technological cooperation, human resource development and education. The two sides also issued a joint press communique.
