In this episode we name three broad categories of spells: Attack Spells, Save Spells, and Utility Spells. We focus on how casting Attack and Save Spells work. There are two numbers every casting class uses for these types of spells. Those numbers are spell attack bonus, and spell save DC. We explain how to calculate these numbers and how they are used. Then in the second half of the episode we talk about how many spells a caster knows/has prepared at each level. Small correction note to the portion on spell save and half damage on a successful save. There is a first level spell called Thunderwave (pg. 282 PHB) that causes the targets to take half damage on successful saves.
