The AutoScan Inspec is a compact desktop device that provides automatic high-accuracy scanning of small and complex objects.

The system, designed by the engineers of the Chinese-based Shining 3D company, represents a perfect solution for reverse engineering, inspection, and quality control. The AutoScan Inspec can be applied in any industry requiring high resolution digitization with minimal effort.

The developers paid special attention to the ease of use of the device – a user-friendly interface and a set of intelligent scanning modes do meet these goals. For example, the user can point out certain areas which have not been scanned properly, and the device will automatically make all the necessary scans.

The AutoScan Inspec is as easy to master as possible, even for untrained users – it takes only about three hours to get professional scans when employing the device for the first time.

In most cases, 3D scanning with the AutoScan Inspec is a one-click process: the object is placed on the turntable, the process starts off using the Ultrascan , and a few minutes later you get a digital copy of the physical object with metrology-grade accuracy.

Scanning is performed by means of a structured light module with a blue LED projector, which improves digitization results when using the scanner under normal light conditions.

Images are captured by the dual camera with a five-megapixel resolution. The object to be scanned is placed on a turntable equipped with universal mounts – the 3-axis system enables one to inspect objects with complex curved surfaces.

The device boasts an accuracy of up to 10 microns, with the maximum scanning area of 100x100x75 millimeters. A fast and stable USB 3.0 connection is used for data transfer.

The scanner's open modular design helps to interact with the device while scanning. The AutoScan Inspec has a durable construction and weighs only seven and a half kilos, which makes it easy to transport.

The proprietary Ultrascan software is compatible with Windows; it is used to scan objects and preprocess their digital models, as well as convert the data into the STL format and further export it to CAD systems such as Geomagic Control X, Design X, Zbrush and Polyworks.
