Magpie & Tulips | Realistic Bird Oil Painting Process

Описание: Happy New Year to you all! I hope your 2026 is off to a peaceful and inspired start. I’ve been back at the easel this week, and I’m so excited to share the first finished piece of the year with you.

I’ve always loved how smart and observant Magpies are, and I wanted to give this one a setting that felt just as "cool" as he is. I ended up pairing him with a couple of Queen of the Night tulips - they have this incredible dark, velvety texture that almost mimics the iridescence in the bird's feathers.

Instead of my usual light backgrounds, I went with a deep, moody mauve for this one. It feels a bit like a quiet spotlight in a dark room.
