On August 27th, 2023, at the Islamic Institute of Orange County (IIOC) in Anaheim, California, USA, the IIOC Da'wah & New Muslim Department had a unique event for New Muslims and Converts/Reverts. The Da'wah & New Muslim Program has a Mentorship Program that pairs New Muslims/Converts to Mentors in the community, who have gone through the training to work with New Muslims & Converts.
The event acknowledged the hard work of New Muslims/Reverts that learned how to make wudu (wash up before prayer) and learned how to pray, among many other things. It also appreciated the many Mentors that helped the New Muslims/Reverts through their journey. This short video is a highlight video of this event. We were also blessed to have Shaykh Mohammed Faqih & Shaykh Dr. Omar Suleiman drop by to show love to the program and to the New Muslims.
In addition to this, we had non-Muslim family members that came to support. For some of them, it was the first time in a MOSQUE! A Big Shout-out to Qamaria Yemeni Coffee for sponsoring the Coffee and Tea for the event along with other sponsors. A HUGE appreciation to all the volunteers that stepped up, for many weeks, to help coordinate this event.
