Unison’s NHS members accepted the NHS pay offer of a 5% pay rise this year and a one-off lump sum of at least £1,655. However, 54% of RCN members voted to reject the deal, despite the RCN leadership recommending the package. They will go on strike over the first May bank holiday, including NHS nurses in emergency departments, intensive care, cancer and other wards. RCN leader, Pat Cullen, and Christina McAnea from Unison join us to debate the negotiations.
