1️⃣ Detained by police in a massive Chinese New Year crowd
During the chaos of Chinese New Year celebrations, police suddenly escort me through an ocean of people packed into the streets. The crowd is overwhelming, the situation intense, and the experience completely surreal.
Scary? Yes.
Unforgettable? Absolutely.
2️⃣ Bao'en Temple – Sichuan’s “Small Forbidden City”
Featured in iconic "Black Myth: Wukong" game.
Located in Pingwu County, the breathtaking Bao'en Temple is a rare Ming Dynasty architectural masterpiece.
Almost the entire temple complex is built from ultra-rare Nanmu wood — one of the most valuable and durable timbers in China.
Every pillar, statue, ceiling beam, and dragon carving is made from this legendary wood, known for resisting rot, insects, and time.
Highlights include a 9-meter Guanyin statue carved entirely from Nanmu — a stunning example of imperial-grade craftsmanship.
3️⃣ Shengshui Temple – a massive modern Buddhist sanctuary
The incredible Shengshui Temple is one of the most ambitious modern Buddhist projects in China.
This enormous sanctuary features hundreds of meters of corridors filled with thousands of detailed Buddha sculptures and reliefs.
Crafted over more than 10 years, the level of detail is astonishing, with every figure telling stories from Buddhist tradition.
