On January 21, 2019, the Center for Christian Study hosted the first public screening of Race and Place in Charlottesville, a video series examining the African-American history of streets, buildings, and public spaces in Charlottesville’s university and downtown areas. The event featured Louis Nelson, Professor of Architectural History at UVA, and Pat Edwards, a Starr Hill resident, and asked the central question: “How can I love my neighbor if I don’t know their story?”
The Center for Christian Study is a nonprofit ministry adjacent to the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. We aim to see students formed to Christ by communicating biblical truth for the good of the University community, with hospitality and care, and in partnership with other Grounds ministries.
