Niagara Falls - 3D Wigglegrams

Описание: This is an exhibit where old photograph technology meets modern software.
The Brock University Archives has many stereograph images of Niagara Falls from the 1860s through the 1900s. Stereographs consist of two nearly identical photographs, paired to produce the illusion of a single three-dimensional image when viewed through a stereoscope. However, there is no such viewer in the Library. The Systems and Technology department developed a process that overlaps and animates the images, thus making the desired 3D illusion. We call these ‘Wigglegrams’.

These Wigglegrams are visually appealing not only for the 3D effect, but they also provide a historic look at Niagara Falls. The spectacle of Niagara has changed dramatically over the decades – the architecture, environment, and people. During the summer months when Niagara’s tourist season is at its peak, this is a unique reminder of what used to be.

Hint: Focus on the fore or middle ground to get the best 3D effect.
