Planting ginger is a rewarding process that begins with choosing healthy rhizomes that have visible buds or "eyes."
First, prepare loose, well-drained soil rich in organic matter, as ginger grows best in warm, moist environments. Cut the rhizomes into pieces with at least one or two buds each, then let them dry for a day to prevent rotting. Plant them about 5 cm deep with the buds facing upward, keeping 20-25 cm between each piece for proper root expansion.
Water regularly but avoid waterlogging, as too much moisture can cause decay. Mulching with straw or leaves helps maintain soil warmth and moisture. After three to four months, you'll see lush green shoots, and within eight to ten months, the rhizomes will mature, ready for harvesting.
