Il relie le quartier de l’Ecluse au nord de l’enceinte historique de la vieille ville au quartier de Plan à proximité du jardin botanique. Petite particularité, les deux voitures faisant partie de l’inventaire total des véhicules des transports publics neuchâtelois, elles portent non pas les numéros 1 er 2 mais 401 et 402. La ligne à été automatisé en 1922 déjà !
[EN] This funicular, which was put into service in 1890, is the oldest means of public transport in the city of Neuchâtel. It connects the Ecluse district to the north of the historic walls of the old town to the Plan district near the botanical garden. A small peculiarity is that the two cars are part of the total inventory of Neuchâtel public transport vehicles, and they do not bear the numbers 1 and 2 but 401 and 402. The line was automated as early as 1922!
