More than 30 years after the death of Granite Bay teacher Cherilyn Hawkley, investigators in Northern California are giving this cold case new attention.

In 1993, Hawkley — a 34-year-old mother of three and beloved elementary school teacher — was found dead in her minivan just a mile from her classroom on Halloween.

Now, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Investigations Team, which includes Anne Marie Schubert - the prosecutor who helped crack the Golden State Killer case, is working to identify Hawey’s killer.
