Governor Guyo’s call for unity and service above politics seems to be resonating widely. One by one, MCAs are crossing over, setting aside personal ambitions, and rallying behind his development-first agenda for the benefit of the people of Isiolo.

With this latest move, where Hon. Nura Huka — one of the MCAs who had previously voted to impeach him — has now joined his camp, Governor Guyo has regained full control of the Isiolo County Assembly.

It will be remembered that Governor Guyo has been persuading MCAs who had opposed him and supported the motion to remove him from office — a motion that was eventually dismissed by the Senate. Governor Guyo continues to demonstrate his growing political strength, especially considering that during his impeachment process, he had only two MCAs out of 18, but now commands a total of 13.

This means he has the numbers to pass any motion in the County Assembly, including approving Abdullahi Banticha as Speaker should the court uphold his nomination, or even initiating the removal of Mohamed Roba Qoto as Speaker — given the two have been at political loggerheads.

This development comes just days after Governor Guyo called on all Isiolo leaders to work together for the sake of development, including Senator Fatuma Dullo, his long-time political rival.
