Shakespeare's Globe is a reconstruction of the Globe Theatre, an Elizabethan playhouse for which William Shakespeare wrote his plays, in the London Borough of Southwark, on the south bank of the River Thames. The Globe is known because of William Shakespeare's (1564–1616) involvement in it. Plays at the Globe, then outside of London proper, drew good crowds, and the Lord Chamberlain's Men also gave numerous command performances at court for King James.
With the onset of the CoVid pandemic, the Globe has adjusted its audience from school visits and workshops at the globe to a large online presence.
