Riding the Alps – Grossglockner to Mount Ventoux MC Tour 2019
In the summer of 2019, three riders set out on a serious motorcycle adventure: from Norway to Spain, with one goal – to cross the Alps on two wheels.
This series documents the Alpine leg of that journey, starting at Grossglockner in Austria and continuing through Europe’s most legendary mountain passes. Over the course of one intense week, we ride Passo Giau, Passo Falzarego, Passo Gardena, Stelvio Pass, Passo Bernina, Splügen Pass, Col du petit Bernand, Col de l’Iseran, Col du Télégraphe, Col du Galibier, Col de la Bonette and finish at Mount Ventoux in southern France. In addition to these summits we ride in Vercors amazing national park region.
While the families flew to Malaga, we took the hard way – riding over 2,000 kilometers of mountain roads, hairpin bends, and remote landscapes. This is raw motorcycle touring. No trailers. No shortcuts. Just the road, the ride, and the kind of freedom only found on two wheels.
If you're planning a motorcycle trip through the Alps or just want to see real riding in some of the best scenery Europe has to offer, you're in the right place.

Motorcycle Ride – Col de l’Iseran to Col du Télégraphe (Alps Tour Leg 12)
Leg 12 takes us from the soaring heights of Col de l’Iseran down into the heart of the French Alps, continuing toward the renowned Col du Télégraphe. This route combines high-altitude riding, deep alpine valleys, and a steady climb back into the mountains – a classic transition stage that showcases the variety of terrain the French Alps have to offer.
After descending from Col de l’Iseran’s 2,764-meter summit, we pass through Bonneval-sur-Arc and follow the valley floor down toward Saint-Michel-de-Maurienne. From there, the road climbs once again through dense forest and tight curves to reach Col du Télégraphe (1,566 meters).
While not the highest pass in the region, Col du Télégraphe is a strategic link to bigger climbs ahead and offers a technical, shaded ride with good road surfaces and limited traffic. It's a favorite warm-up climb for cyclists en route to Col du Galibier – but on two wheels with an engine, it’s just pure riding pleasure.
This leg balances speed, scenery, and elevation – a perfect mid-section for any motorcycle tour through the French Alps.
