Meesapulimala "Whiskers of the Tiger Mountain" - the name is derived from its appearance from the south and west valley of this mountain.
The trekkers start from Munnar, the heart of tea country, with vast stretch of tea estates interspersed with tropical high-altitude forests to commence the trek from an altitude of 1500m and gradually move up to over 2600m.
The trail pass through tea estates, dense cloud forests and grasslands which are typical to the higher areas of the Western Ghats. The area also has abundant endemic wildlife and birds. The trail passes over the undulating mountains criss-crossed by mountain streams and ascend Meesapulimala - the second highest peak in the Western Ghats. The panoramic views from the peak is breath taking - the world’s highest tea estate Kolukkumalai nestled amidst the hills, the great plains of Tamil Nadu and the swatches of white misty clouds will make anyone jump off their feet with exhilaration.
