Karl Kabza served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 1967 – 68’. He was with VMCJ-1, VMCJ-2, and VMCJ-3 as a flight and intercept officer on EA-6A’s and RF-4B’s.
In this interview, Karl shares the story of how he survived the skies of Vietnam while protecting the lives of his fellow fighter pilots for 13 months.
The EA-6A was equipped with advanced electronic countermeasures (ECM) systems, including radar jammers, chaff dispensers, and communication jammers. These systems were used to disrupt enemy radar and communication networks, reducing the effectiveness of North Vietnamese surface-to-air missiles (SAMs) and anti-aircraft artillery (AAA).
