The long form interview "Charles Schulz at 3 o' clock in the morning," which first appeared in The Comics Journal #200 (1997), has become one of the most legendary, must-read cartoonist interviews ever done.
During my "month of Peanuts," I soaked up everything I could afford of the classic comic strip and of its creator, Sparky. Including this aforementioned famous interview, by the one and only Fantagraphics founder and publisher, Gary Groth. I reached out to Groth to ask him some questions of my own about that Santa Rosa meeting back in 1997, and about the publishing program which sprang from it, the fantastic 26 volume series "The Complete Peanuts."
