After days of disruption, the protest by commercial vehicle groups at the Jorabat border has ended. The decision to call off the standoff came after both the Assam and Meghalaya state administrations provided assurances that they would work to resolve the underlying issues with two day. The immediate result is a major relief for stranded commuters and tourists, as tourist vehicles are once again being allowed to cross into both states. The Extra Assistant Commissioner, Andrew Myrthong, confirmed the breakthrough, stating that the agreement was reached following discussions with Assam's administration.
