Rohtak Police takes major action against illegal arms suppliers
Two youths on a motorcycle arrested with illegal weapons
15 pistols/country-made pistols, 34 rounds and 3 mobile phones recovered from the accused
Rohtak Police has recovered a large quantity of illegal weapons in a major operation against illegal arms suppliers. Superintendent of Police Mr. Surender Singh Bhauria, while addressing a press conference, said that a team of CIA-2 staff, under the leadership of In-charge CIA-2 Staff Sub-Inspector Satish Kumar, was patrolling near the Rohtak-Jhajjar road to apprehend the accused. During the patrol, the CIA-2 staff team received information that two youths on a motorcycle without a number plate were standing on the road near Jalebi Chowk on Jhajjar Road with a large quantity of illegal weapons. Acting promptly on the information, the CIA-2 staff team apprehended two youths standing near a motorcycle without a number plate near Jalebi Chowk bridge on suspicion. The youths were identified as Raman alias Kalsi son of Sanjeev, resident of Majri Mohalla Shahabad Kurukshetra and Ravinder alias Binder son of Abbal alias Amarsingh, resident of Indira Vihar Colony Panipat. Upon searching, 9 country-made pistols and 23 rounds were recovered from Raman's backpack and 6 pistols and 11 rounds were recovered from Ravinder. A total of 15 pistols/country-made pistols and 34 rounds were recovered from the two youths. In addition, three mobile phones were also recovered from the accused. A case number 44/2026 has been registered against the accused under the Arms Act at Shivaji Colony Police Station.
The investigation revealed that both the accused are members of an active gang whose leader is sitting abroad and is currently absconding. The two youths had come to Rohtak to supply illegal weapons and ammunition to members of another active gang in the area. The accused, Raman, 23 years old and a 12th-grade pass, has a previous criminal record. A case of fighting and assault is registered against him. He works at a garment warehouse in Panipat. The other accused, Ravinder, also works at a garment warehouse in Panipat. He is 27 years old and a 10th-grade pass. The accused are being interrogated thoroughly. The Superintendent of Police further stated that the Rohtak district police have taken strict action against those possessing illegal weapons, registering 16 cases in January, in which 31 illegal weapons were recovered from the accused.
